Finding An Attorney, Such As Jeremy Goldstein, Online

An article on Madison County Courier discussed finding lawyers online, such as Jeremy Goldstein. It discussed how the Lawyer Referral and Information Service in New York launched an online portal for those needing an attorney. It went on to talk about how the online service works.

The article said a person goes to the website nysbalris.legal.io, and once there they fill out a questionnaire. This is designed to determine what the person’s legal issue is and where they are located.

Once the form is completed, the State Bar staff reviews it. They will then match the person with an attorney that is located in the same community or in the surrounding area.

If the person lives in one of the 17 counties with a referral service, the State Bar will forward the person’s request to the county bar association in the area. Also, the referrals are completely free. There us a $35 fee for the first half-hour consultation, but there’s exceptions. Those exceptions include whether an incident involves social security, personal injury, unemployment, medical malpractice, military law or worker’s compensation.

Once the initial consultation has been completed, the person can decide whether or not they want to retain the attorney. This is when fees will be established.
